Serengeti Honeymoon Safari from Zanzibar
Bush and beach in one honeymoon
Most couples honeymooning in Zanzibar never see the Serengeti, because they assume it means unpicking the beach half of the trip. It doesn't. It means three or four days.
You fly north from the island, spend two or three nights in the Serengeti with a vehicle and guide that are yours alone, and fly back to the coast. No long road transfers, nothing shared with strangers, and your beach booking untouched either side.
Every safari we run is private by default, so that part is not an upgrade you are paying extra for — it is simply how we work. What is added for honeymooners is the rest of it: the room dressed on arrival, a table set apart from the others, a sundowner somewhere your guide has picked for the view rather than the convenience.
What defines it
The key elements
Fly, do not drive
A morning flight from Zanzibar instead of two days on the road, so the time you have goes on the safari rather than the transfer.
Nobody else in the vehicle
Your own 4x4 and resident guide. You are never waiting on another couple's schedule or their photography stops.
The luxury tier
Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge in the central Serengeti — a permanent lodge with a pool and 24-hour power. Read the note below about the northern alternative.
The small arrangements
Room dressed on arrival, sparkling wine, a private dinner set away from the mess, sundowners at a spot chosen by your guide.

How a trip like this runs
An example, not a fixed programme. The dates, the tier and the pacing are set around you.
-
Day 1
Zanzibar to the Seronera valley
Collected from your Zanzibar hotel for the morning Flightlink departure. You land at Seronera, meet your guide at the airstrip, and there is game viewing on the way to the lodge. Lunch, check in, then an afternoon drive until last light.
-
Day 2
A full day, yours
Early breakfast and out at first light, or a continuous full day with a packed lunch — your call. Your guide sets the route on recent movement. A private sundowner somewhere quiet to finish.
-
Day 3
Dawn drive and back to the coast
A final dawn game drive in the cool light, breakfast, check out, and game viewing on the way to the airstrip for the flight back to Zanzibar and your beach hotel.
The itinerary underneath
This runs on the 3-Day Serengeti Safari from Zanzibar
Same days, same guide, same vehicle. What changes is the tier, the room and the small arrangements — not the price of the safari.
Questions
Worth knowing
Will we share the vehicle with other couples?
Never. Every safari we run is a private departure. That is not a honeymoon upgrade — it is how the whole site works.
How does this fit around a Zanzibar beach holiday?
You fly out after breakfast, spend two or three nights in the Serengeti, and fly back to the coast. Your hotel booking either side stays exactly as it is — there is nothing to unpick and no wasted day at either end.
Is there a proof-of-marriage requirement?
Usually, yes. Camps that offer complimentary honeymoon touches generally ask for a marriage certificate dated within a set window before travel — commonly six or twelve months, though it varies by property. Tell us your wedding date when you enquire and we will confirm what the camp you are booking actually requires, rather than you finding out at check-in.
What is the difference between the northern and central luxury camps?
A real one, and worth knowing before you choose. In the central Serengeti the luxury property is Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge — a permanent lodge with a pool and 24-hour power. In the north it is Serengeti North Wilderness Camp, a ten-tent camp with solar lighting and a gravity shower, twenty minutes from the crossings.
Both are excellent and both cost the same. They are not the same kind of stay. If you are picturing a lodge, take the central Serengeti.
Can we add a balloon safari?
Yes — a sunrise flight over the plains with breakfast on landing. It needs booking well in advance, and we will quote the current rate when you enquire.
